The Chinese smartphone maker & selfie expert Oppo, launched two new smartphones in India yesterday; Oppo F9 Pro & Oppo F9 respectively. Both the smartphones were announced yesterday at Oppo's launch event which was held at Hotel Grand Hyatt in Mumbai. The smartphones fall under mid-range category and have identical specifications, except for the RAM, which is 4GB on Oppo F9 & 6GB on Oppo F9 Pro. The smartphones feature identical display's with a small drop like notch in the front-top of the screen, Oppo is calling it the waterdrop screen. Let's take a look at the specifications.
Oppo F9 Pro Specifications
Quickly jumping to the specifications past, Oppo F9 Pro features a 6.3" Inch display with FHD+ 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The display is topped with Corning Gorilla glass 6. According to Oppo, the F9 Pro boasts a 90.8 percent screen-to-body ratio and the waterdrop notch houses the front camera. The Oppo F9 Pro smartphone weighs 169 grams, measures 7.99 mm in thickness and is powered by MediaTek MT6771 Helio P60 chipset, Octa-Core 2GHz processor, Mali-G72 MP3 GPU, 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. The smartphone comes with a triple-slot which can house two sim cards and a microSD card up to 256GB at once.
Coming to the cameras, the rear camera is a 16 Megapixel + 2 Megapixel Dual camera with f/1.8 aperture, PDAF and LED flash. The 2 Megapixel depth sensor helps in blurring the background in portrait shots. The front camera is a 25 Megapixel shooter with f/2.0 aperture. Oppo F9 Pro can shoot Full HD 1080p videos at 30 fps. Oppo F9 Pro runs on Android Oreo topped with Color OS 5.2 out-of-the-box.
Oppo F9 Pro is a Dual-Sim smartphone and can support two Nano-Sim cards at the same time, along with the microSD card. Other connectivity options are Bluetooth 4.2, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS and BDS, FM Radio, Wi-Fi, MicroUSB 2.0 and OTG support. The F9 Pro boasts a 3500 mAh Li-Po battery which supports VOOC fast charging (5V/4A 20W) and can deliver 2 hour talktime with just 5 minutes of charging. According to Oppo, when charging the F9 Pro smartphone from zero, the VOOC fast charging delivers about 11% in the first 5 minutes and about 57% in 30 minutes.

One the other hand, the Oppo F9 smartphone has identical features as the Oppo F9 Pro, the only difference is that Oppo F9 comes with 4GB RAM, while the F9 Pro comes with 6GB RAM.

VOOC Fast Charging
VOOC Fast Charging technology is independently developed by OPPO, applies low voltage charging technology and has a charging speed which is up to four times faster than general charging at 5V/1A. This technology can deliver 2 hour talk-time with just 5 minute of charge time. In addition to increasing the charging speed by four times, VOOC also boasts an intelligent five-layer protection system from the adapter to the port and interior of the phone. VOOC has replaced the voltage reducing circuit with a MCU, making VOOC a cool fast charging tech. You can use your phone and at the same time maintain high speed fast charging, which a high voltage fast charge will not be able to support.
Price & Availability
Oppo F9 Pro (6GB+64GB) is priced at Rs.23,990 INR and Oppo F9 (4GB+64GB) is priced at Rs.19,990 INR. The Oppo F9 Pro is available for pre-booking now and will be available for purchase online & offline starting August 31, 2006. The Oppo F9 smartphone will be available soon, no dates were announced as of yet.
