In the recent years, many old school things became smarter and brought along a wide range of functions & capability. Today I'm going to talk about a Smart LED bulb, which can be controlled using your smartphone. Not only that, it can do various other things which will surely keep you wondering. Developed by a Delhi-based company Cube26, REOS Lite (formerly known as IOTA) is actually a LED smart bulb, which using Bluetooth, connects to your smartphone, and using an App, you can control it from a distance. It comes with many more features and we'll talk about them today. About three weeks ago, Cube26 sent me the new REOS Lite Smart bulb and starting that day I began my tests. I was using this smart bulb continuously since then & finally came up with a review. Below is my complete in-depth review of REOS Lite Smart Bulb. I hope you'll like it.
Unboxing
REOS Lite Smart LED Bulb comes in a nice cylindrical box which has the brand logo's and basic information printed on. On opening the box, you'll find the Smart Bulb itself in a nice foam padding, along with it comes the documentation; which contains the User manual & the warranty card. The retail package came with an E27 female to B22 Male converter. That's pretty much it, nothing else was supplied. Design
The REOS Smart bulb comes in a nice design with wider top and narrower bottom. As soon as you take it out of the box, you'll realize that it weighs quite more than a regular bulb, that'll be because of the added features & Bluetooth chip. It comes with an E27 connector which is quite unusual for Indian household, for those who don't know what E27 connector is, it is basically a kind of connector which screws into its slot. Fortunately, REOS provides a converter with the retail package, using which you can connect REOS Smart Bulb to traditional Indian bulb slot (B22 connector). The Smart Bulb is made up of good quality materials & feels very solid in hands.

How to Connect REOS Lite Smart Bulb
In order to make the Smart Bulb work, you'll have to install a mobile application from your respective app stores. Below are the links for Android & iOS, using them you can download the REOS Lite app.
REOS Lite uses BLE Bluetooth 4.0 Low energy communication for connecting the Smart Bulb to your Smartphone. Once you've installed the app on your smartphone, you can follow the below given steps to establish a connection between your phone & REOS Lite.

Step 1 : Connect the REOS Smart Bulb in the socket & Turn it On. Now on your smartphone, Turn on the Bluetooth.
Note : In some cases when you have Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) or above, you might have to turn on the GPS as well, since Android SDK makes it mandatory for all BLE connections to have location access. So in case you're having issues pairing with the bulb, just turn on the GPS along with the Bluetooth.
Step 2 : Launch REOS Lite app on your smartphone and search for connected REOS bulb. Once you see it on the display, select the bulb and wait till the connection is established. You can tick the Auto-Connect option for making it easier to connect in future.
Step 3 : Using the color picker tool, you can change the glow of the bulb to your desired color. Further, you can adjust the intensity as per your needs, you can make it brighter or dimmer, as you like. Using different modes, you can make your experience more enjoyable.

16 Million Colors to Choose From
As soon as you connect your bulb & launch the app, you'll be greeted by a huge multi-color palette, using which you can turn your REOS Lite into any color shade you can imagine. There are 16 Million colors to choose from. There is also a second color palette which contains cool & warm white shades. You can even pick the color by taking a picture using your phone camera, this feature comes in handy when you want the light to match your room. Under the palette, you'll find the intensity/brightness slider, REOS can go to a maximum of 1100 Lumens.
Different Modes
REOS Lite app comes with various modes like Kaleidoscope, Strobe, Candle, Christmas, Reading, Party and Movie. Using these modes, you can immediately change the behavior of the smart bulb. These modes will switch different colors, at different speeds, at different intensities. You can also create a custom mode as per your need.
Music Synchronization
REOS Lite Smart bulb has the capability to sync according to the music playing around. For this to work, you'll need to install REOS Music app on your smartphone. When you play the music using the REOS music app, the bulb will flicker as per the beats of the song, which looks quite cool. The brightness will increase/decrease as the volume goes up or down.

Scheduler / Timer
You can schedule the REOS Lite Smart Bulb to Turn ON or OFF at any time you want. For example; if you want the bulb to turn on automatically at a specific time (say 6 PM) you can set the scheduler to Turn ON at 6 PM. There is also a Timer feature, using which the bulb will automatically Turn ON at a specific time and Turn OFF once the timer is completed. For example; if you wish the bulb to Turn on automatically at 6 PM and Turn Off at 11 PM, you can set the timer & the bulb will follow.
Alerts
REOS Lite Smart Bulb can notify you of any incoming calls or alerts on your smartphones. It supports SMS, WhatsApp, Facebook, YouTube, Weather, Hike alerts etc. You can even set alerts for a specific person. It can also notify you on the arrival of your OLA or Uber cab, even when your Dominos Pizza arrives. Other supported services are; Tinder, BigBasket, Grofers and Swiggy. In future updates, REOS will bring support to many more services.
Price & Availability
The REOS Lite Smart bulb is available online in India via Flipkart for Rs.1699. You get one year warranty with this smart bulb.
